Grammatical Rule:

In order to negate a verb you must use one of the following construtions:

ne...verb...pas (for a straight negation) ne...verb jamais (never) ne...verb...rien (nothing) ne...verb...ni....ni (neither one, nor the other)

ni can also be used as "neither"
