Indirect Objects

Grammatical Rule:

As in English, indirect objects are nouns that are acted upon by the direct object.

ex. I give the book to Soumia.

I (subject) give (verb) the book (direct object) to Soumia (indirect object).

(Je donne le livre à Soumia)

To replace the construction "à Soumia" with a pronoun one must choose the correct indirect object pronoun (lui) and place it before the verb.

"Je lui donne le livre"

The O.I. is most often seen with the preposition "à" :

Me Nous
Te Vous
Lui Leur
